Vanessa, Canada’s first French-language TV porn station will start airing on October 28, much to the pleasure of Canadian porn fans. Other Canadian adult channels have existed in the past, like the infamous Naked News station (where female reporters would read the daily headlines in the nude), but none that can be truly defined as an adult pornographic channel. The HD channel is 100% adult and will feature erotic-based dramas, reality shows, and sex-themed documentaries. Think HBO After Dark.
Licensed by Montreal-based Sex-Shop Television, the channel service will cost $14.95 a month. The Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has closely monitored the TV channel’s negotiations and stipulated that it cannot depict violence and must stick to a “equitable portrayal” of the sexes.
Another interesting stipulation is that the adult channel must procure at least 20% of its content locally from Canada. With California being the porn epicenter, we might be seeing more innovative Canadian porn programming. This has also worried Canadian religious groups who fear a Canadian porn content revolution.
