When I heard that Digital Playground was coming out with a new line of Pirates inspired sex toys, I was automatically excited. Why? Because honestly, what’s cooler than skulls and pirate hats? Digital Playground, most famous for creating the most expensive pornos movies ever (Pirates 1 and Pirates 2), took their high level of expertise in the adult industry to the next level with the production of their Pirates Novelty Sex Toys. This particular toy, the Jesse Jane Rocket Pirates Vibrator,$49.95, is purple, fat, and powerful.
Right off the bat, I knew that Digital Playground had taken a different approach to toy design. The toy comes in clear plastic packaging, which gives you a 3 sided view of the toy so you can get an accurate idea of material, detail, size and shape of the vibrator. Different than most sex toys, which come in a concealed box, you’re often left with a less than accurate idea of what the toy will actually look and feel like once you make that purchase.
This particular vibrator was designed with Jesse Jane’s style and preferences in mind. The purple vibrator is designed with an Ed Hardy-esque pattern of skulls, crossbows, and even has a cute row of “diamonds” along the bottom of the vibe. Besides adding a cute factor, the diamonds also provide a little extra grip for lubed up hands. The six inch (insertable) long and five inch around or 1.5 inch thick vibrator is the standard vibrator shape but is particularly strong to better match Jesse’s personal likes and dislikes in a sex toy. When 69adget interviewed Jesse at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas, she stated “Digital Playground just came out with these new toys from their Pirate line, and I have a thing that I break a lot of vibrators because a lot of them aren’t strong enough for me. I didn’t think that this [new vibrator from DP] would be strong enough for me, but it is. It has five different speeds, and this one is pretty hard, but it gets harder, and harder, and harder and it pulses, and it’s so… so good.”
The vibrator features three speeds and two different patterns: continuous, pulsate, and what I would call a wave. What makes this vibrator different is the fact that it has the control switch at the bottom of the vibrator. Unlike most, this toy features a one-touch, one-button control. Turning the toy on and off or changing the speeds and pattern of vibration are controlled by this single button. What I loved about this one button control was the fact that I could easily increase the speed without accidentally pressing the wrong button and changing the pattern, a common problem with most vibrators. What I find with other more complicated vibrators that feature two separate functions for increasing the speed and pattern, I find myself changing the pattern in the heat of passion when all I really wanted to do was make the speed more intense! Talk about an orgasm killer. With the Jesse Jane Pirates vibrator, you know you’re not going to accidentally change the pattern unless you want to. And if you do want to switch to the other pattern, you know it’s coming after three clicks. The downside to the one button control is the fact that the vibrator can easily go on or off in your suitcase or bag. When traveling back from Las Vegas, I noticed a buzzing coming from my suitcase. Thankfully I was able to discreetly turn it off without my coworkers or better yet TSA further investigating the mysterious vibrating suitcase.
When it comes down to using the vibrator, I found this vibrator (although standard looking) to be exceptionally strong and pretty much awesome. Because it’s so strong, the toy is a little loud for external stimulation, but when this bad boy is inside of you, it’s phenomenal. Super powerful, I had the vibrator on the lowest or second to lowest setting and it felt much more powerful than my other vibrators. It’s also a little fatter than most vibrators of this shape, I found it to be much more pleasurable than most similar looking vibrators. Made of TPE coating for a velvety soft feel, the vibrator feels silky and soft against your skin. It’s also easily washed, which is always a good thing!
The pros:
-Super powerful
-One button control for speed increase in the heat of passion
-Thicker than most vibrators
-Beautiful design
The cons:
-One button means that the vibrator can turn on easily in your luggage or bag
-Loud when used for external stimulation rather than internal stimulation
Overall:
This toy is one of the cutest new vibrators available. Well made and powerful, this vibrator is made with the user in mind. Although the toy may have turned on in my bag and a few of the diamonds fell off, this is a vibrator I most definitely recommend or give as a gift to a friend. Why? Because besides looking cute, it feels awesome! The added thickness and strength of the toy make for an awesome user experience, and hey, that’s what these toys are all about. The Jesse Jane Rocket Pirates Vibrator will be available for purchase by the end of February 2010.
Update 2/10/10: Digital Playground has clarified the issue of the gems falling off and and has since corrected the problem before the official launch of the Pirates Vibrator. It turns out that the review sample we tested was a pre-production version. However, none of the retail versions will suffer from the gems falling off.

It looks to me like “Other movies like Star Wars have seen 8 billion in merchandise sales since 1977″ is inaccurate according to the cited source.
According to your link, that 8 billion consumer sales figure relates to all Lucas Licensing products (Indiana Jones, etc etc) not just Star Wars?
