With the recent media attention surrounding sexual addiction stemming from VH1’s new reality show, “Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew,” sexual recovery centers across the U.S. are preparing for a major influx of new addicts. Since the VH1 show began airing, recovery centers like the Sexual Recovery Institute of Los Angeles have seen more and more addicts arriving on their door step.

“I’ve been treating sexual addiction and compulsive sexual behaviors in both men and women for nearly 20 years,” remarked SRI Founder Robert Weiss. “With all the buzz surrounding sexual misconduct, I believe that SRI has a responsibility to educate people about the nuances and behaviors surrounding hyper-sexuality. It’s a scary, often secretive, and misunderstood topic…but people need to know that the effects of sex addiction are always devastating, and often nothing short of dangerous.”

Sex addiction can range from compulsive cheating, to porn addiction, to excessive masturbation and more. SRI, a treatment center that normally caters to the rich and famous, is now opening their doors to the masses with $20 group therapy sessions and support groups offering help to sex addicts and their spouses.
