Much like the previous seasons of Celebrity Rehab, the STDs, sex, and rock-n-roll are just as abundant on Dr. Drew’s new spin off, Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew. The show profile eight sex addicts on their road to recovery. You might be wondering how and why you would want to end a sex addiction. Well Dr. Drew says that sex addiction affects 3-6% of the population and can possibly be harder to kick than a cocaine or heroine addiction.
For 21 days, eight sex addicts will be put into Drew’s rehab facility and undergo daily treatments and one-on-one sessions with the doctors. To make it harder on the patients, Dr. Drew compiled a group of abnormally hot sex addicts ranging from rockers, to Playmates, to Porn Stars and former models. Thanks for making it easy, Drew.
You may be asking, how do I meet one of these sex addicts? But according to Dr. Drew, this type of affliction stems from traumatic experience and even childhood abuse that makes it hard for these addicts to get close to anyone. Addictions like this ruin lives, marriages, and most all relationships. Kicking the habit can be particularly hard since dealing with the problem usually entails intense therapy to uncover the real reasons why these people are addicted to empty sex in the first place. Also, once “cured” most people chose not to quit sex cold turkey but rather they choose to find a healthy medium – teetering on the edge between “normal” and “addiction.”
You can watch the drama unfold on VH1 Mondays at 10 pm.
